What are the causes of back pain?

Back pain can be one the most difficult things for a person to deal with. Back pain can stem from many different scenarios. Whether it is an accident that happened suddenly or poor posture for long periods of time, back pain can cause you to miss work or prevent you from doing the things you want to do. There are also many different types of back pain, each with a different problem area and treatment.

The spine is composed of 33 vertebrae that form a column.  In between each vertebrae is tissue connecting the whole system together. The spine extends from the skull to the pelvis. Along this column, a host of problems can ensue. The two primary issues are Spondylolisthesis and Cervical Radiculopathy.

Spondylolisthesis is the slipping of vertebra. This is generally caused by a defect or a fracture on the winged part of the vertebra. It is usually present at the base of the spine and is the primary cause of lower back pain. This slipping can move the bones in a variety of different directions. This condition can cause immobility and chronic pain.

Cervical Radiculopathy is caused by damage to the nerves that causes a disturbance in nerve function. It generally occurs when a nerve root near the cervical vertebrae is compressed. This can cause pain, weakness, as well as a loss of feeling in the neck, arms or shoulders.

Other causes of back pain can be a slipped disc, an accident or a muscle strain or pull. Whatever the cause for your back pain, look no further than CoreWellness. We can accurately diagnose the root cause of your back pain and prescribe the proper treatments to fix it quickly and effectively long-term.
